“If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you’ve launched too late.” – Reid Hoffman (founder of LinkedIn)
Walk into a room of successful entrepreneurs and ask them what they would change if they could go back and re-do their first ever launch, and you’ll likely hear the same answer multiple times.
“I only wish I’d started sooner.”
Most of the work you’ll do on your first launch is convincing yourself that you are ready to get your work out there. The truth is, you’ll never really be “ready”, and every minute that you postpone is one more minute that you’re not making money on your expertise.
The wellness industry is a magnet for perfectionists, which is both a blessing and a curse. So many amazing professionals hold themselves back because they don’t believe they’re worthy of success yet.
Do you have any of these limiting beliefs?
- Feeling like you need more courses/certifications to make you worthy of launching your business (even though you already graduated).
- Believing you won’t get any clients.
- Thinking you need to lose weight or get fitter yourself to be taken seriously in the wellness industry.
- Not trusting your ability to make enough money as an entrepreneur.
Reality check: There will always be another reason to hold off on your launch, because you’re the one creating the reasons! Nothing external will prepare you. It’s a mindset shift that needs to happen.
Once you take the leap, you cannot unleap. You have no choice but to start building your wings on the way down, and this is when the magic happens. Your entire life will be separated into two periods: pre-launch and post-launch.
Here are some of the ways your mindset will change by finally putting your work out into the world:
Pre-launch: "I don’t know if I will make enough money."
Post-launch: "I must focus all my energy on making this profitable."
Pre-launch: "One day I will be ready."
Post-launch: "This is happening and I have to roll with it."
Pre-launch: "I want to help people."
Post-launch: "I am helping people."
These mindset shifts will change your life, by attracting more of what you want. Success will happen when you actually want it to happen. Stop getting ready for it to happen "some day" and open yourself up to letting it happen today.
You need to take action in order to see results, and once you start seeing results, you'll be excited to take more action. You will launch many times in your business, but the first time will give you the confidence to dream even bigger dreams.
Business is a lot of leaping, a lot of figuring it out, and failure is an unavoidable part of the game. The more you leap, the easier it gets.
Here are some ways you can get yourself out there right now. Commit to taking at least one of these steps this week:
- Set a date for your first workshop or seminar and make it public.
- Publicly announce that you are accepting clients into your practice.
- Reach out to your ideal client community and ask them what they need from you.
- Set a launch date for your group program.
